Geospatial Systems maintains the University's system of land surveying control points. The last campus-wide survey point monumentation project was carried out April 2005, and additional monuments have been added from time to time since then. OSU's permanent control monuments are 3-1/2" brass caps set in steel-reinforced concrete (CLICK HERE for a diagram). All brass caps are stamped with the text, "Oklahoma State University."
In November 2009 Geospatial Systems also established a fixed, continuously-running GPS reference station on campus. OSU's GPS reference station is part of an RTK cooperative network managed by Western Data Systems.
In conjunction with the 2005 monumentation project, OSU adopted the following datums:
All surveying and point collection for campus construction or renovation projects shall be based on OSU's official survey reference points and OSU's adopted horizontal and vertical datums. All reference points used for project design and construction shall be called out in the respective project plans.
